Hawaii has no coat blow season at all. Without a real temperature swing, double coated dogs shed continuously rather than twice a year, so deshedding becomes routine maintenance instead of a seasonal appointment.

Salt water is the other thing that changes a routine here. A dog that swims in the ocean and dries without a rinse ends up with salt sitting in the coat, which dries the hair out and irritates skin. A plain fresh water rinse after swimming does more for the coat than any product, and it costs nothing.
