This policy covers uspetgroomers.com, operated by JS Enterprises. It says what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed.

The Short Version

You can read every guide and every listing without telling us anything.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Payments go through PayPal. We never see or store your card details.
There are no passwords here. Signing in sends a one-time link to your email.
You can ask us to remove your listing information, your photographs or your account at any time.

Information You Give Us

You only provide information when you choose to use one of these.

The contact form. Your name, your email address and whatever you write in the message. We need the address to reply to you.
Claiming or adding a groomer listing. The email address you choose becomes the account for that listing, and we store the business details you enter: opening hours, the pets you take, services, and anything else you fill in. That information is published on the listing, which is the point of providing it.
Photographs you upload to a listing.
Buying advertising. Your email address, your business name, the wording and web address you want on the banner, and which towns you have chosen. Your email address is the account for the subscription and is how you change or cancel it. We also record the date, the version of the terms you accepted and the IP address you accepted them from, which is what lets us answer a billing dispute.
Asking to be told when a town is free. If you join the waiting list for a town we store your email address against that town so we can tell you when it becomes available, and nothing else. Every message includes a link to remove yourself, and stale entries are deleted. We never tell you, or anyone, who currently holds a town.

Information Collected Automatically

Our web server keeps standard access logs: the IP address a request came from, the page requested, the time, and the browser's user agent string. These are what any web server records, and they are used to keep the site running, to investigate errors and to deal with abuse.

Your IP address is also recorded alongside a listing claim as an anti-abuse measure, so that a pattern of bogus claims can be recognized.

We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other websites.

Payments

Payment is handled entirely by PayPal. We never see, receive or store your card details. What comes back to us from PayPal is the payer name and payer email on the account, a transaction reference, and the amount paid. We store those against the claim so we can match a payment to a listing, answer a query and handle a refund or chargeback if one arises.

Advertising is a recurring monthly payment, also taken through PayPal. We store the PayPal subscription reference, its status and the renewal date so we can show your banner, tell you when a payment has failed, and cancel when you ask us to. Again, no card details reach us. PayPal tells us when a subscription is paid, fails, or is canceled, including when you cancel it inside PayPal rather than here.

Signing In to Manage a Listing

There are no passwords on this site. Signing in sends a one-time link to your email address. The link expires shortly after it is issued and works once. The tokens behind those links are stored hashed, so the contents of our database would not let anyone sign in as you.

Photographs You Upload

Photographs uploaded to a listing are stored on our server, converted to a web format, and published on that listing. They are checked automatically before they appear, which involves sending the image to an automated content review service. You can remove a photograph from your listing at any time while you have access to it.

How We Use What We Hold

To publish and maintain the directory listing you have claimed.
To take payment, and to answer a query, refund or chargeback about one.
To sign you in, and to send service messages about your listing or subscription, such as a failed payment or a renewal.
To reply to a message you have sent us.
To keep the site working, and to detect and prevent abuse, fraud and spam.
To meet our accounting and legal obligations.

We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked for it, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you bought something.

Who Else Sees Your Information

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. It reaches other companies only where they perform part of the service.

PayPal

Payments and subscriptions are processed by PayPal. When you pay you are dealing with PayPal directly and your information is handled under their privacy policy. We receive only what is described under Payments above.

Google reCAPTCHA

The contact form and the listing sign-in form are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which is what distinguishes a person from an automated script. Google collects information about your interaction with those forms for that purpose, under Google's own privacy policy and terms. Without it both forms would be used to send spam.

Automated image review

Photographs uploaded to a listing are sent to an automated content review service before they are published, so that unlawful or inappropriate images do not appear on the site.

Hosting and email

The website and its database run on servers provided by our hosting company, and email we send you passes through mail servers on the same account. Both handle the data only to provide that service.

Analytics

Where website analytics are running, they are provided by Google Analytics and are described in full, with an opt-out switch, on our Cookie Policy and Settings page. A browser sending a Global Privacy Control signal is treated as opted out automatically and the analytics code is never loaded for it.

Where the law requires it

We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our users or the public.

Cookies

The site uses a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work, such as keeping you signed in to your listing and remembering your cookie choice. Anything beyond that is optional and is covered on the Cookie Policy and Settings page, where you can change your choice at any time.

How Long We Keep It

Claim records (payer details, transaction reference, amount) are kept while the listing is claimed, and afterwards for as long as we need them for accounting and for handling any dispute or chargeback.
Business information and photographs you add are kept while the listing is published.
Advertising records are kept while the subscription runs and afterwards for accounting and billing disputes.
Sign-in links expire shortly after they are issued and are useless once used.
Contact form messages stay in our support mailbox so we have a record of the conversation.
Server access logs are kept for a short period and then rotated away.

Your Choices and Your Rights

Whatever state you are in, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Ask us and we will deal with it. We may need to confirm you are who you say you are before acting on a request about a listing account.

Depending on where you live you may have specific rights under state privacy law, including in California, to know what is collected, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for asking. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

You can also decline optional cookies on the Cookie Policy and Settings page, unsubscribe from a town waiting list using the link in the message, and cancel an advertising subscription yourself from your account.

Note that removing your account does not by itself remove the underlying directory entry, which is built from public business data. Tell us if you want that taken down too.

Children

This website is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, sign-in tokens are stored hashed rather than in plain text, and card details never reach our systems. No website can promise perfect security, and we do not.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Where a change is significant we will say so on the site.
